BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is hiring for short-term positions under the project “Optimized salicylamide derivatives and prodrugs for the treatment of influenza infections”. THSTI is an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The institute conducts innovative translational research to improve human health.

Job Overview

This recruitment notification (THS/RN/41/2025) is to fill up vacancies on a consolidated emolument basis. These are short-term positions, and extension will be granted subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbents and tenure of the project. Those appointed will not have any claim for regularization of their employment.

Consultant & Head Pharmacology

  • Number of Posts: 01
  • Monthly Consolidated Emoluments: Rs. 3,00,000/-
  • Age Limit: 50 years
  • Essential Qualifications & Experience: M.D. in Pharmacology from a MCI recognized university with at least five (5) years’ of post-qualification experience in clinical pharmacology. The candidate must possess a valid medical registration certificate.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience in health volunteer studies. D.M. in clinical pharmacology.

Job Description:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Define the long-term roadmap for the early clinical development and Controlled Human Infection Model units, ensuring alignment with global translational research standards.
  • Overall responsible for management & functioning of Early Clinical Development facility and Controlled Human Infection Model facility at Medical Research Centre.
  • Design & conduct first-in-human, dose-escalation studies and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic assessments. The position will be responsible for the final interpretation of safety and PK/PD data.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the technical setup of the unit.
  • Oversee all aspects related to studies including but not limited to Safety monitoring and adverse event management, Protocol development and IND regulatory submissions.
  • Overseeing the Training and supervision of the study teams.
  • Guide the business team on how to present the unit’s capabilities to sponsors.
  • Enforce through the teams a robust set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for end-to-end functioning ensuring highest standards of quality management systems.

Consultant (Study Coordinator)

  • Number of Posts: 01
  • Monthly Consolidated Emoluments: Rs. 1,25,000/-
  • Age Limit: 35 years
  • Essential Qualifications & Experience: MBBS/ M.Pharma/ BAMS/ BHMS/ BNYS/ BUMS/ B.Sc. Nursing or any related degree from a recognized university with three (3) years of post-qualification experience in clinical research coordination at a unit managing healthy volunteer studies.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience in facing international inspections of the healthy volunteer clinical pharmacology unit.

Job Description:

  • Coordination with the sponsor of all study activities and timelines related to Phase I and Controlled Human Infection Model studies.
  • Liaison with ethics committees and ensuring approvals are in place before study initiation.
  • Ensure proper process is being followed for the Informed consent.
  • Ensure appropriate data capture, Documentation and record maintenance as per CDSCO/ICH requirements.
  • Volunteer recruitment and scheduling by coordinating with Community Awareness Expert.
  • Team coordination, responsibility assignment for studies, training on protocol and resource management.
  • Work closely with the pharmacy to manage the chain of custody for the study drug till subject dosing.
  • Oversee the processing, labelling, and storage of biological samples.
  • Ensure “ALCOA+” standards (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate) for all data.
  • Conduct daily checks of the unit’s specialized equipment preparedness and be responsible for their maintenance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Clinical Research Associates (CRAs) and auditors of the sponsors visiting the site.
  • Coordinate with the data management team ensuring complete data capture.

Age Relaxation

The age limit, qualification, experience and other requirements may be relaxed at the discretion of the competent authority for suitable candidates. Age relaxation is provided for:

  • SC/ST communities: By five years.
  • OBC communities: By three years.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): UR – 10 years, OBC – 13 years, SC/ST – 15 years.
  • Central Government servants: Up to five years in accordance with instructions.
  • Ex-servicemen: Up to the extent of service rendered in defence forces plus 3 years, provided they have put in a minimum of 6 months attested service.

Application Fee

The payment can be made by using Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking/ UPI. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

  • Unreserved, OBC & EWS candidates: Rs. 590/-
  • SC/ST/Women/PwBD candidates: Rs 118/-

Selection Process

The applications will be scrutinized/shortlisted and processed for further selection. In case a large number of applications are received, screening will be done to limit the number of candidates to those possessing higher/relevant qualifications and experience. The number of vacancies may change subject to the actual requirement at the time of the Written test/skill test/interview.
