ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, a permanent research institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, intends to engage a Consultant (Scientific/Technical – Non-Medical) purely on a contractual basis for short-term support.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications: Professionals having proven competency and success in their area of specialization, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience and possessing minimum M.Sc / B.Tech / BE / MCA / MPH / B.Pharm / BAMS / BSMS / MD in AYUSH or equivalent qualifications in Public Health/ Health Service.

Or Retired Government employees, with requisite qualification and who were in the regular Pay Level-10 and above, and having at least 10 years’ experience in the required specialization.

Desirable: Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Public Health Nutrition with focus on Nutritional Anthropometry, Diet Surveys, etc. Experienced in planning and execution of community-based public health projects. Willingness to travel to study sites across India.

Note: PhD will be considered as 4 years experience (irrespective of the duration taken to complete the degree). MPH / M.Tech / ME / M.Pharm will not be considered as any experience.

Age Limit

  • Minimum: 40 years
  • Maximum: 70 years

Selection Process

Eligible candidates will be required to attend a written test/interview as per the schedule mentioned in the call letters/email. If the number of applications received is large, a Written Test will be conducted before the interview. The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in the Written Test (if conducted) and Personal Interview.

The duly completed application, affixed with a recent passport-size photograph and accompanied by self-attested copies of relevant documents including educational and professional qualifications and experience certificates, must be submitted by e-mail to: [email protected]. Incomplete applications, without a photograph or without copies of relevant certificates, will not be entertained.

Important Instructions

  • The initial term of engagement for the Consultant shall be for not more than one year, with subsequent extensions on a case-to-case basis; the overall engagement period should not be more than 5 years.
  • Consolidated emoluments will be fixed as advertised. No House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be paid.
  • No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview/personal discussion; candidates must arrange their own transport/accommodation.
  • Experience shall count from the date of completion of the minimum educational qualification.
  • The contract is purely temporary and can be terminated at any time by giving not less than one month’s notice by either side, without assigning any reason.
  • The Consultant shall have no claim of further extension beyond contractual engagement or regularization of service.
  • Candidates already in regular service under any Central/State Govt./Autonomous/Dept/ PSU are not eligible to apply.
