The National Institute for Plant Biotechnology (ICAR-NIPB) has invited applications from Indian nationals for temporary engagement purely on a contractual basis for the position of Junior Research Fellow under the Department of Biotechnology funded project titled “Development and Validation of a High-Throughput Genome- Wide SNP array for Sugarcane (Saccharum Spp.)”.

Job Overview

ICAR-NIPB is conducting a Walk-In Interview for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellow on a temporary and contractual basis. The engagement is initially for one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance, or till the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.

Important Dates

The tentative date of interview is 07-04-2026. Candidates must report at 9.30 am.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualifications: Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology with Bachelor’s degree in any life science discipline, with a minimum of 60% marks in postgraduation. Preference will be given to candidates with a plant genomics background.
  • The candidate must have qualified any one of the following: Scholars selected through NET – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE; OR The selection Process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, IARI, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Research experience in genomics data handling (SNP discovery, array design, bioinformatics analysis, etc.) Scientific writing as evidenced from publication/ fellowship/ associateship/ training.

Age Limit

Upper age limit as on the date of Interview is 35 years for Male candidates and 40 years for Female candidates.

Selection Process

  • Only candidates having essential qualifications will be considered for the interviews.
  • Candidates must bring 2 copies of the Application form along with 2 self-attested copies of all original documents related to educational qualifications, experience, publications, etc., for verification.

  • Candidates must bring all required documents, including complete CV, mark sheets and certificates from Class 10 onwards, experience certificates, no-objection certificate (if employed), and application form strictly in the prescribed format.

Important Instructions

  • The position attracts emoluments of Rs. 37000/- + 30% HRA per month fixed.
  • No TA/DA would be given for appearing in the interview.
