
CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) undertaking basic and applied research in plant sciences. Eligible and interested candidates are invited for a walk-in interview for the purely temporary position of Project Associate-II (PAT-II) under a sponsored project tenable at CSIR-NBRI.
Job Overview
This recruitment is for the project titled “Genome editing for crop improvement (GE- Crop)” MMP- 025301. The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project subject to satisfactory progress and receipt of funds. The total tenure of project staff in CSIR projects should not exceed 06 years, extendable to 07 years under certain conditions for short-duration sponsored projects.
Job Vacancy Details
- Post Name: Project Associate-II (PAT-II)
- Stipend:
- Rs. 35,000/- + HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR- UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET incl. lectureship / assistant professorship or GATE OR qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/ DST or equivalent agencies.
- Rs. 28,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under the above category.
- Note: HRA will be admissible as per sanction of the projects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Biotechnology / Plant molecular biology Botany / Life Sciences / Biochemistry / B.Tech in Biotechnology Bioinformatics, Microbiology with 02 years R&D experience Or M.Tech/Integrated M.Tech in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics.
- Desirable Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in advanced molecular biology / Genome editing plant tissue culture/ /bioinformatics (Genomics, Proteomics / and transcriptomics).
- The period of experience in a discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications prescribed for that grade.
Age Limit
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years.
- The relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/PwBD/ Women shall be 05 years and for the category of OBC shall be 03 years.
Selection Process
The mode of selection is through an Interview. However, if a large number of candidates turn up, a Screening test comprising multiple-choice objective questions may be held for shortlisting candidates for the interview. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee.

- The application form will be provided at the venue on the date of the walk-in interview. Candidates may also download the application form in advance from the official website nbri.res.in.
- At the time of the interview, candidates must bring one latest photograph, original documents along with self-attested copies of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth, and experience certificate, etc.
- All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date one hour before the scheduled time for necessary documents verification.
- Only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria and possess the degree/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for the walk-in interview. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and ‘result awaited’ will not be considered.
