CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), Mysuru, a constituent National Laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), desires to engage a qualified candidate as Project Research Scientist-I purely on a temporary contractual basis. This engagement is for the project entitled “Mitochondrial metabolism and systemic homeostasis in Cancer Cachexia” with project number GAP-0668.
Job Overview
The engagement at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, Karnataka, is initially for a period up to one year and may be extendable up to two years based on the requirement or till the end of the project duration, whichever is earlier. Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: Post Graduate (PG) Degree including the integrated PG degree in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/ Lifesciences.
- Desirable Qualification/Experience: Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences.
- Job Requirements: Biochemical analysis, Molecular Biology, Cell culture, Handling preclinical models, basic instrumentation techniques.
- Note: Only those candidates who have already acquired the essential qualification & their results have been declared are eligible to apply. Result awaited/Final semester appeared or appearing candidates are not eligible.
Age Limit
- Candidates should not have exceeded 35 years of age as on the last date of receiving the applications i.e. 25.03.2026.
- Relaxation in age limit for candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/PwBD/Women shall be 05 years.
- Relaxation in age limit for the category of OBC shall be 03 years.
Selection Process
- Applicants will be subjected to shortlisting by a designated committee according to the current requirement.
- The committee may adopt criteria for short-listing candidates based on percentage of marks in Essential Qualification, higher educational qualifications, desirable qualification/experience, or any other methodology deemed fit.
- The candidate’s shortlisted for interview will be displayed on the CSIR- CFTRI website.
- Based upon the performance of candidates in the interview, the result of selected candidates will be declared and posted on the CFTRI website.
- No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.

Important Instructions
- As per CSIR guidelines, the total period of the engagement of a Project Staff in different projects either in the same Lab/Instt. or different Lab/Instt. of CSIR taken together shall not exceed 6 years in any case. Hence, applicants who have completed the total tenure of 6 years in any CSIR Lab/Instt. as Project Staff are NOT ELIGIBLE.
- If already the candidate is working in CSIR/CSIR-CFTRI a “NOC” from the current PI is mandatory for applying for the aforementioned project.
- Candidates who are applying shall ensure that they fulfil the essential qualifications/experience.
