
Anna University has announced admissions for Ph.D., M.S. (By Research), and M.S. (By Research)+Ph.D. programmes for the 2026 session. Applications are invited from eligible candidates, including regular teaching faculty members, industry professionals, and postgraduate students (completed and final semester), in various disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Management, Architecture, and Science & Humanities.

Anna University offers higher education relevant to current and projected societal needs and promotes research. Candidates can apply for Full-time or Part-time Ph.D. programmes. The university has announced 250 Research Scholarships with a stipend of Rs.40,000/- p.m. for full-time meritorious scholars admitted in CEG, MIT, ACTech, SAP Campuses, Constituent Colleges, and Government Engineering Colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
General Eligibility: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 5.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST/Person with Disability (with disability score more than 40%) candidates, a minimum of 50% marks or a CGPA of 5.0 on a 10-point scale is required. Candidates should have acquired qualifications in the order of 10th, HSC (or) Diploma, then UG/PG degree.

Note: PG Qualification (Engineering/Technology) acquired through distance mode, weekend mode, or work integrated Programme is not eligible for the Ph.D. Programme. Teachers working in Schools are not eligible for admission.
Application Fee
Candidates must pay a one-time Non-Refundable Registration Fee through online mode only.

Selection Process
- Applications will be screened by the Centre for Research based on eligibility norms.
- Eligible candidates will be called for a Written Test conducted by the Centre for Entrance Examinations. The duration of the test is 2 hours, comprising 25% research methodology (Part I) and 75% core subject (Part II).
- Candidates must obtain 50% marks in the written test to qualify for the interview process.
- Final selection is based on the overall marks secured in the Written test (70%) and Interview (30%). A cut-off will be applied, with a 5% mark relaxation for SC/ST/Persons with Disability candidates.
- Candidates with valid GATE scores or qualified in national level examinations such as NET are exempted from the written examination. Their marks in the national level examination will be used in place of the written test.

- The online application must be submitted with the approval of the supervisor on or before the due date.
- A hard copy of the completed online application form must be submitted by the specified deadline.
- The registration fee must be paid online.

Important Instructions
- Candidates should choose a supervisor from a recognized research department. It is mandatory to check the recognition status of the research department and supervisor on the Centre for Research Website, Centre for Affiliation of Institutions, and the respective College Website before applying. If there is any mismatch, it should be brought to the notice of the Centre for Research before submitting applications.
- An application without the consent of a recognized supervisor from a recognized department of this university shall be summarily rejected.
- Candidates who have obtained a PG degree from a foreign university must obtain a course eligibility certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and submit it along with the hard copy of the application.
- Incomplete applications and applications with false information shall be summarily rejected without intimation.
- Full-time scholars must sign the attendance register on all working days at the respective place of research.
